SparkFun BME280 Atmospheric Sensor Breakout

The SparkFun BME280 Atmospheric Sensor Breakout is the easy way to measure barometric pressure, humidity, and temperature readings all without taking up too much space. Basically, anything you need to know about atmospheric conditions you can find out from this tiny breakout. The BME280 Breakout has been design to be used in indoor/outdoor navigation, weather forecasting, home automation, and even personal health and wellness monitoring.

Touch Potentiometer Desk Lamp

The SparkFun Touch Potentiometer, or Touch Pot for short, is an intelligent linear capacitive touch sensor that implements potentiometer functionality with 256 positions. It can operate as a peripheral to a computer or embedded microcontroller or in a stand-alone capacity. The Touch Potentiometer provides both a dual-channel analog and PWM output for direct control of other circuitry. Configurable analog and PWM transfer functions support a wide variety of applications.

Raspberry Pi Starter Kit

There’s a lot of Raspberry Pi information going around lately. Whether it’s Pi A, A+, B, B+, or Pi 2 B, any forum will have thousands of people giving all the answers possible to a problem. Though most methods work for any version, it can be tough to decide which information to choose. The Raspberry Pi 2 Starter Kit is a great way to gain a solid introduction to the small, credit-card sized computer. With this kit you will be able to get your Raspberry Pi 2 connected through our SparkFun Pi Wedge to a breadboard and, by utilizing the…

SparkFun BLE Nano!

The BLE Nano from RedBearLab is the smallest Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy (BLE) development board in the market and with the included MK20 USB in this kit you’ll be able to deploy firmware to BLE Nano even easier. At each BLE Nano’s core is a Nordic nRF51822, an ARM Cortex-M0 SoC plus BLE capable of running at 16MHz with ultra low power consumption. The RedBearLab BLE Nano also supports numerous different wireless devices running iOS 7/8, Android 4.3 or higher, and Windows Phone 8.1.

SparkFun Thermocouple Marshmallow Stick

This is a stainless steel, Type-K Thermocouple probe. A thermocouple works by taking two wires made of dissimilar metals, connecting them at the two ends, and making a temperature gradient between one end and the other (a ‘hot’ end and a ‘cold’ one). Once this is achieved, a voltage potential is formed and current flows. One junction is held in the environment where the temperature of interest exists, this is known as the hot junction. The other junction, referred to as the cold junction, can typically be found in ICs that specialize in reading the temperatures detected by the thermocouple…

SparkFun ESP8266 Dev Board

This is the SparkFun ESP8266 Thing Dev Board – a development board that has been solely design around the ESP8266, with an integrated FTDI USB-to-Serial chip. The ESP8266 is a cost-effective, and very capable WiFi-enabled microcontroller. Like any microcontroller, it can be programmed to blink LEDs, trigger relays, monitor sensors, or automate coffee makers, and with an integrated WiFi controller, the ESP8266 is a one-stop shop for almost any Internet-connected project. To top it all off, the ESP8266 is incredibly easy-to-use: firmware can be developed in Arduino, and uploaded over a simple, serial interface. The ESP8266 Thing Development Board breaks…

SparkFun Stepoko Laser Cutter

The SparkFun Stepoko is an Arduino compatible, 3-axis control solution that runs grbl software and is able to connect to your computer to accept stepper motor commands. The Stepoko’s design and firmware are completely open source and it works with an open source Java based cross platform G-Code sending application to translate commands. By just looking at the pictures this board may look daunting but the simplest installation of the Stepoko consists of just plugging the stepper motors in, connecting it to power and to your computer! To top it off, we’ve designed the SparkFun Stepoko to fit and be…

SparkFun Makey Makey!

Using the MaKey MaKey you can make anything into a key (get it?) just by connecting a few alligator clips. The MaKey MaKey is an invention kit that tricks your computer into thinking that almost anything is a keyboard. This allows you to hook up all kinds of fun things as an input. For example, play Mario with a Play-Doh keyboard, or piano with fruit!

SparkFun Rock Block Satellite Communication Module

The RockBLOCK Mk2 allows you to send and receive short messages from anywhere on Earth with a clear view of the sky and it works far beyond the reach of WiFi and GSM networks. Maybe you want to transmit weather information from mid-ocean? Or use it to control your robot in the middle of the desert? Perhaps you need to communicate in an emergency, when other networks might not be available? RockBLOCK can help you.

SparkFun Inventor’s Kit for Edison!

The SparkFun Inventor’s Kit for Intel® Edison, otherwise known as the Edison SIK, introduces the Edison as a powerful Internet of Things (IoT) platform. The Edison SIK includes everything you need to complete 12 circuits that will teach you how to program the Intel® Edison using JavaScript and controlling various electronics. Whether you are new to electronics and JavaScript or are looking to take your skills to the next level, this kit is a great starting point.

Arduino 101 Explained with SparkFun!

The Arduino 101 (Genuino 101 outside the US) is the newest addition to the Arduino line-up. A collaboration between Intel and Arduino, it features the Intel Curie module, which contains a dual core, 32-bit Quark processor running at 32 MHz. The board is in the traditional Arduino form factor, which means it can accept most Arduino shields. Additionally, it contains an on-board Bluetooth Low Energy radio and a 6-axis accelerometer/gyroscope.

Behold the SparkFun RedStick!

Last week, we introduced the SparkFun RedStick, a special new edition of the BadgerHack board we designed to teach people the basics of programming and soldering at our 2015 events. After its debut, we got a TON of feedback from customers asking us to sell the Badgers on our site for those who couldn’t make it to our booths, and after some finessing and revising, behold: The RedStick.   We’ve also been hard at work on some special add-on kits for the RedStick to help you add functionality and build simple projects with your board. Best of all, if you…

SparkFun Raspberry Pi 3!

The Raspberry Pi 3 has a arrived, and we take a look at its new features. The single board computer now sports a 64-bit, 1.2 GHz processor, onboard WiFi, and onboard Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
