At the Center for Advanced Design (CAD), a product development firm in Minnesota, a team of design engineers specialize in creating complex surface geometry for the plastics industry. The agile team of six handles everything from industrial design concepts and digital sketching to assisting clients with implementation by building production tooling. Their ability to advance projects quickly keeps their specialized team very busy. Watch the video to learn more.
Some great examples of 3D printing and rapid prototyping in action at the 2017 Paris Air Show. Full color, multi-material 3D printed parts are used to rapidly iterate and validate custom aircraft design interiors including seat arm rests, interactive entertainment systems, video displays, and remote consoles. Many of these parts are created on the Stratasys J750 full-color, multi-material 3D printer.
Stratasys has been continually evolving and improving its PolyJet range of 3D printing materials for over 13 years. Today, PolyJet materials cover the widest scope of Rapid Prototyping and Design Verification requirements. No other technology is able to achieve the true product and final part realism that PolyJet technology today enables.
Sam Green and Zehavit Reisin of the Stratasys Materials Business Group discuss the various merits of the latest Digital ABS material options: Digital ABS Ivory is a new material providing the same performance as the original Digital ABS green material – the only change is to the color. Digital ABS2 is a new Digital Material option that allows users to 3D print both the green and the ivory versions with rigid thin walls down to 1mm or less.
Sam Green of the Stratasys Materials Business Group provides a close-up look at 3 of the company’s most interesting 3D printing materials: VeroClear transparent material and Digital ABS material (both from the PolyJet line of materials used on the Objet 3D printers) and the ULTEM 9085 tan thermoplastic material (from the FDM line of materials used on the Fortus400 and Fortus900 production systems). Of particular interest is the use of Digital ABS material for the production of short-run injection molding and blow molding tools to save time and money on traditional steel/aluminum tooling.
