Centre of Excellence in Robotics and Industrial Automation
Amritsar Collage of Engineering and Technology, Punjab.Established on 24th February 2014
The Centre Of excellence in Robotics and Industrial Automation aka “ROBOLAB” was inaugurated on 24th Feb 2014 at the hands of distinguished guests which included Prof. Harish Pungotra (PhD in Robotics), Madam Ragini Sharma (Director Finance), Dr. Om Kumar Harsh (Group Director), Dr. Vijay Kumar Banga(Principal), Mr. Gaurav Tejpal (HOD DME).
This is the first complete robotics lab in North India. The Robolab is the hub of inter-branch activities in the field of Robotics in the college. The lab serves as an excellent platform for the students from all the branches to implement their ideas. The Robolab is an open to all place, handled and managed by the students under the efficient guidance of the lab in-charge, Mr. Dharminder Singh Sir.
The Robolab has also given birth to a unique robotics club in ACET which goes by the name “ACET Robo Cell (A.R.C)”, which is a group of robotics enthusiast home-work in this lab facility.
The Robolab opens up a whole new field for the ACETians from the point of view of the career. It is the future and ACETians are contributing in building it in the Robolab. It completed its 1st successful year on 24th Feb, 2015. Within first year of establishment of the ROBOLAB student members are winning laurels for their Alma Mater. The performance of student members not only in robotics but also in academics has improved a lot during this period. They have won at different technical competitions, paper presentation competitions and have developed two products in the ROBOLAB itself which gathered media attention in Northern India.
Another year, another awesome batch of bright students at ACET who have always strived to give her students the feel of the present day trends and technologies used in the industry. This workshop was a step towards the same goal.
Robomania was a 5 day National training workshop which involved active participation from 85+ students from different departments (Mechanical, computer, Electronics, and Civil too!).
They came together on a single platform and learn the following 4 robots in depth:
2. MOBILO – The Mobile operated robot
3. Orbit – The Light follower robot
4. Flexo – The Robot Arm
Another successful year for ACET Robo Cell in terms for performers and achievements. The students from first batch of ARC delivered a training programme for trainees from Bhutan under the able guidance from Dr Gaurav Tejpal and Prof. Dharminder Singh Sandhu.
